This year’s AGM was a great opportunity for members to find out more about the future direction of NZARH!

Some great questions were asked and answered with insight into NZARH’s scheduled plans for launching a voluntary Register for Hairdressers and Barbers, Partnership with Sustainable Salons NZ, working closely with the Australian Hairdressing Council to bring more business resources to NZARH members, developing and encouraging local events and community building amongst members, development of a salon ‘Qualmark’ to help consumers recognise the qualifications and business standards of member salons, working with the Ministry of Health on changes to the Hairdressers Health Regulations, strengthening communications strategies to increase outreach through edm’s, website, email, social networks, consumer advertising and strengthening industry engagement.

A very special thank you to Kay Nelson of HITO for speaking about the VET Reform and answering many questions.

A very warm welcome was made to Phillippa Middleton of Buoy Salon & Spa who was elected onto the NZARH Executive Committee. Unfortunately following a recent Executive meeting, Phillippa felt the workload was outside of what she could commit to at the moment with her busy schedule, and she doesn’t like to not be able to deliver. The whole NZARH team would like to thank Phillippa for her contribution and fresh ideas. Her talents and support have already been generous and very much appreciated.

The Executive are pursuing industry interest and hope to welcome on a Co-Opted Member, in accordance with the NZARH rules, as soon as possible.

And we have sad news that our wonderful Deirdre is moving on and we wish her all the absolute best for her future adventures. She will be sorely missed with her impeccable work ethic and fantabulous Irish accent!

So a very warm welcome aswel to our new awesome Technical Administrator – Bev!!! We’re so happy to have you join our team!

Keep an eye out in your inbox and through our social channels for exciting things ahead for the NZ Hairdressing and Barbering Industry.
