Sky is a NZ trained hairstylist recently returned from living in London and working internationally as a session hairstylist.
She started her career in hairdressing at age 15, sweeping the floor in a suburban salon in Auckland after school. And as she didn’t love high school, Sky enrolled for a hairdressing diploma at Cut Above Academy and never looked back. Going through two apprenticeships, she finally completed her training at Stephen Marr in 2005.
Working at Stephen Marr was where she was introduced to the session hairstyling world! Sky was part of the winning team for the Schwarzkopf Creative Team and designed looks for Karen Walker, NomD and was involved in both training technicians in-salon and being part of their creative teams in NZ & Australia.
Six years ago Sky moved to London to work full time in the session & runway world. In that time she feels lucky to have been able to travel the world assisting the best in the business! Highlights include runway in New York City to London, Milan and Paris, to Louse Vuitton cruise shows in Japan and Versace campaigns in Miami. Sky has worked extensively as a team director for James Pecis and travelled as part of the teams with Guido Palau, Eugene Souleman, Paul Hanlon, Anthony Turner & Sam McKnight.
Alongside this work, Sky also manages her own career with clients such as Zara, Topshop, H&M, Converse, Tommy Hilfighter, and editorials in publications such as Puss Puss, British Vogue, Schön and King Kong.
Personal development has always been a huge driver for Sky, so earlier in 2020 she trained as an Neuro Linguistic Programming practitioner focusing in the area of leadership and coaching.
She wasn’t planning on coming back to New Zealand but, Covid-19 and the risks associated with the pandemic, bought her back home.
Education is something she have always been passionate about. And, while in NZ, it means a lot to her to give back to this community that has given so much quality to her life.
Thanks Sky! We look forward to hosting you 😉
