Statement on use and behaviour on NZARH social media platforms

Kia ora koutou.

Thank you all for your support during these challenging times of uncertainty and apprehension. To our members especially, we acknowledge your ongoing support which we value highly – without you, we would not exist. In the current COVID-19 environment there is understandably high levels of anxiety and we are trying our best to support our members and our industry as a whole in any way we can.

NZARH is the professional body that represents the hairdressing and barbering industry. We advocate to government and provide guidance to the industry on best practice.  NZARH helps grow creativity through live and photographic competitions and provide access to professional development through education. In these extraordinary times, we have been liaising with key government agencies, obtaining and clarifying critical information and guidelines etc that we can convey to our members, ensuring that the information we do pass on is accurate, complies with government legislation and guidelines, and most importantly will be of some value to members and others.

While we are a member association we also recognise the importance of providing advice and support for the wider industry. The purpose of our social media presence is to inform, support and care for our industry. We provide answers to your questions, create a network of professional contacts and help you navigate the ever-changing landscape that is the creative industry we also work in.

We won’t always get it right, especially in the current environment, so we welcome constructive feedback on how we can improve and do things better – our ‘door’ is always open to do so. However, while you may not always agree with some of the content or articles we post or the opinions of others, we will not tolerate any aggressive and abusive language posted on any of our social media and other platforms that brings disrepute to the integrity and professionalism of the Association, our members and the industry as a whole.

If you choose to post offensive, aggressive or abusive language or statements your comment will be deleted and continuing to do so will result in you being banned from all our platforms. Please, we are asking you to reach out to us if you have any concerns – contact us at the details below, we are more than happy to discuss any concerns with you. COVID-19 has forever changed the way we think, including the way we will do business in the future. Let’s use this opportunity to grow, to share, to learn, to lead and to support each other and ensure that our industry comes out of this stronger, more empowered and even more fabulously creative!
